When Brooklands Tavern in Southern River first reached out, they were simply after some new chairs. But once we stepped foot inside the venue, we saw a much bigger opportunity. The venue was still hanging on to a retro disco theme – and while nostalgic, it wasn’t quite hitting the mark for modern times. So, we proposed a full layout redesign to completely modernise the space.
We introduced custom Newport Chairs with retro blue seats — a quiet nod to the tavern’s past — alongside Sandra Tan chairs that add lightness without drawing too much attention.
One of our favourite design features are the back-to-back tanned booths with planter boxes in between. They bring structure and softness, helping the space feel more grounded and welcoming.
Despite some hurdles like budget limits and reusing existing furniture, the result is a total shift in atmosphere. Patrons walk in and instantly feel the difference.
This project is a perfect example of how the right layout, paired with intentional product choices, can completely reimagine a space.
