The Drakesbrook project set out to breathe new life into a much-loved country pub, without losing its heritage. With only two pubs in town, it needed to stand apart – modern enough to feel fresh, but grounded enough to feel like home.
We were involved from the very beginning, handling drawings, layouts, furniture selection, and the full fitout. The direction was clear: keep the character of a genuine country pub, but give it a lift with warm finishes, solid textures, and furniture that feels built to last.
What made this project special was the freedom we were given. The owners trusted us to design as though it was our own pub, which meant we could lean into choices that felt authentic – timber tones, comfortable seating, and a layout that’s easy to enjoy.
Plenty of site visits and presentations helped refine the details, but the process flowed smoothly thanks to experienced owners who knew what they wanted. The final space is honest and inviting, with just the right mix of old and new. Drakesbrook now feels less like one of two pubs, and more like the place everyone wants to be.
